The HWHS Multicultural Show is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 30 and we are looking for performers to show off the amazing cultural diversity here at the West!  If you wish to showcase your rich cultural heritage through dance, music or some other performance medium, we want to hear from you! We are also looking for students who wish to help out as emcees for the event.  A sign-up sheet for the Multicultural Show has been posted on the call board in the Performing Arts hallway and there will be a very important meeting for all those wishing to be involved on Wednesday, October 12 at lunchtime in room C225.  For more information, please see Ms. De La Chevotiere in room C225.

All players who are interested in trying out for boys basketball there is a sign-up sheet outside the gym and there will be a meeting today at 6:30 pm in classroom A284.  Thank you.

There is a meeting open to anyone interested in the NSSSA at in room C247 today at lunch! All are welcome!

The boys’ hockey team home opener is this Saturday night at Centennial Arena at 8pm.  The boys will be facing the Millwood Knights.  Come out and support our hockey Warriors as they begin their season.  Saturday,  8:00 pm, Centennial Arena.

The West Baseball Team is reminded of practice today at 3:30 @ Westridge Field.

The boys A soccer team took over first place with a 3-1 win over archrivals Citadel. Tight defense led by Youssef El Aun, Dan Gagic, John Saleh and Abdullah Bajeunaid helped secure the victory.  Ayoub Alarabi scored 2 goals while Logan Harrington added 1 to the game sheet.  A big time save by Ahmed Haroun early in the game prevented any sort of comeback by Citadel. The players are reminded of their meeting tomorrow at lunch in Mr. Iatrous room."

West wear forms are available in the main office and the caf at lunch. All forms are due back by Friday the 14th of October.

Student Government will be hosting a fundraiser spaghetti dinner on Tuesday October 25th from 5 to 9pm at the Lower Deck on Lacewood Drive. It will feature performances from Jack Murtha, Will Robbins, Jacob Hatfield, Ethan Protheroe and Angelo Hollett. Tickets are on sale in the caf for $10.00. Don’t forget to bring your friends!

There will be a bake sale today at lunch in support of the Terry Fox foundation. So don’t forget to come buy some treats!

Anyone participating in the wake a thon should have their money and permission forms turned into the office no later than 9 am tomorrow.

West Christian Fellowship meets today and every Wednesday at lunch in C345. Everyone is welcome!

The cross-country team has their regional meet tomorrow at Point Pleasant Park.  Anyone from the team who needs a drive needs to see Mrs. Brennan today.  The team will be leaving the school tomorrow at 11:00 am sharp.

The girls’ volleyball team won 3-0 against Millwood moving to 6-0 in league play.  They got strong performances from Victoria Smith and big hitting from Maria Khoury.

This Saturday is the boys’ hockey home opener. Students must have their school ID to be admitted to the game. Students may not bring outside drinks or any bags to the game. These rules will be enforced. You must bring Halifax West ID to be admitted.
