This is a very important announcement for all grade 10 and 11 students. This is a reminder that course selection for next year for students is only available online until today.  Please make sure your register for your courses for next year through PowerSchool.  There is helpful information on the school and guidance department websites to help you with the process.  The deadline is today and courses are starting to fill up.  Make sure you pick your courses for next year.

The Guidance Counsellors will be in the computer lab A334 at lunch today to help any grade 10 and 11 student with their course selection.  Please make sure you have your course selection form filled out before you come to the computer lab.

Attention graduating students the scholarship database is live and graduating students can now apply for the Halifax West Internal Awards via the Guidance Website.  The deadline for applicants is Friday, April 7th.

The Learning Centre is planning to build the first greenhouse built of recycled materials.

You can help by bringing in all 2L clear or green pop bottles.  If every student at Halifax West brought in 1 2L pop bottle, we would have almost enough. We need 2000 bottles for our project.   Thanks for your help!

Reminder to all warriors that there is a coffee house today! If you haven't signed up, there are still plenty of spots to do so!

Today is the last day to hand in your floor hockey forms, so don't forget to pass them into the main office by the end of the day!

Student Government will be selling ice cream this week as a fundraiser for the Terry Fox Foundation! Come on out to the caf Thursday at lunch and grab yourself a cone, a double scoop for only a $1!

Anyone interested in collecting pledges to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation can pick up a pledge form this week in the main office. After picking up a form, anyone wishing to collect pledges must attend a MANDATORY meeting this Friday at lunch in room c143 for more information about the fundraising process.

A representative from NS Student Assistance (Student Loans) will be in to give a presentation to interested grade 12s on Thursday, March 30 at 10:30 in the theatre. This will be a very useful session as they have made lots of great changes for students that can mean lots of savings and money for you. Make sure to attend so you don’t miss out! Your attendance will be taken care of if you have to miss class.

There will be DELF practice activities every day at lunch this week in room C145 (Mme Haywards) room for those immersion students writing the DELF in April.

Are you interested in video editing, photography or graphic design?  Warriors live is an upcoming broadcast for Halifax West that needs your help.  We also need journalists and anchors.  If you are interested in any of these positions, come out to our meeting this Thursday, March 30th at lunch in room B320.  Hope to see you all there.

The therapy dogs from the Paws Program ‎will be visiting Halifax West on Monday, April 10.  If you want to visit a parental consent form must be completed. The form is available in the main office.  Please return the signed form to the main office.  If you have any questions please see Ms. Boucher in the youth health centre, room C351. 

This coming Friday, the Interact Club is holding their annual purple Pinky day in support of Polio Eradication. Come enjoy this full day event with caf games, prizes, henna, cupcakes and more! Come to school wearing purple and get your pinky dipped purple. Your $1 donation will help immunize children against polio.  All proceeds will be tripled.​ That's this Friday - bring your donation and wear purple!

Attention Grade 10 and 11's! Halifax West will travel to France and Spain next March Break! Highlights will include Paris, Vimy Ridge, and Barcelona!  The trip has been officially launched ,and you can secure your spot on a first come, first served basis by FRIDAY.  For more information, see Mr. McIntosh in room B324 at lunch.
