Friday, April 21, at lunch there will be a table from Green Schools Nova Scotia set up in the cafeteria where you can play fun games to win prizes.

There will be a garbage cleanup “A” block Friday, April 21, and all participating classes will get cookies!

The Halifax Dance Marathon is being hosted this year by a committee of HRM students at Alderney Landing on Friday, May 5th from 5pm-9pm. The Dance Marathon is an annual fundraiser for the children's miracle network, and anyone wishing to attend can make their way to the seminar room at lunch for more info and to purchase a $15 ticket. 

"The Learning Centre is planning to build the first ever green house in Halifax made from recycled materials. We have collected 200 clear and green 2L pop bottles, but we need 2000 for our project. Please bring your clear or green 2L pop bottles to the learning centre. If each student brought in one bottle, we would have just enough. Thanks for your help!"

The Keshen Goodman Library will be at Halifax West for the first in a series of Book Clubs.  Join us as we share our favorite books, take part in a reading challenge and share a love of reading.  The Keshen Goodman will have books available to check out and there will be some treats. Everyone is welcome and you can bring your lunch.  Join us in the seminar room Friday April 28th and Friday May 26th.  

On Saturday, April 22 from 11:00-2:00 pm, a charity walk in collaboration with the Somali youth society of Halifax is taking place at Halifax West High School in support of famine relief in Somalia.  Walk with Somalia will consist of a 6 km walk starting and ending at the school.  The walk will be followed by a potluck of traditional Somali Food.  Prizes will be given to the top three fundraisers!  Pick up your pledge form from the office today.  Hope to see you all there.

For grade 12 students: Valedictorian applications are now available in the main office. If you are interested in being the voice of your graduating class, please drop by to pick up an application. Applications are due on Apr. 28th.

Applications for the executive of the student government are now available in the main office. Applications are due back to the main office on Tuesday April 25 by 3:45 pm.  

Come to the library and submit your anonymous confession for the yearbook.  Today is the last day to submit your confession.

Track & Field athletes who are doing shot put are asked to come to practice today (Thursday) afterschool as practice Friday lunch is cancelled.

West girl’s lacrosse team won their first game against Millwood 7-0 yesterday goal scores were Rachel Grabka 1, Taylor St. Peters 1, Keeley Barnabla 2, and Emily Muise 3.

Reminder indigenous talk number three on indigenous identity will be held in the seminar tomorrow at 12:00.
