Please come out and support these important causes. Donations to Fort McMurray will be made through Canadian Red Cross and below is a description of the Syrian family our school is supporting:

The family is currently living in Lebanon, waiting to come to Canada. We
expect they will arrive in 2017 under the federal government's private
refugee sponsorship program. They are a family of three, a widow and her two
daughters. When they fled Syria, it was particularly for the daughters'
safety, there was fear they would be kidnapped by ISIS fighters (I believe
one of the daughters was at one point). One daughter was forced to drop out
of university due to the war (she wants to continue her studies once she
arrives in Halifax). One daughter is in her late teens and the other is in
her early 20s.
