Halifax West High School

Update from school evacuation on Thursday morning September 21st.

Hello Students, Parents and Guardians.

Halifax West High School is continuing to investigate the incident from Thursday morning.  What we have determined so far is that a firework/smoke device of some type was lit in a school stairwell and filled the stairwell with smoke.  This triggered the fire alarm at approximately 11:25 am and led to the evacuation of the school.  Halifax Fire and Police responded to the alarm and worked with school staff to air out the building and return it to a useable state.  Students and staff re-entered the building at approximately 12 noon.

The school is working with Halifax Regional Police to determine who is responsible for this incident. If you have further informtion we would appriciate it being passed on to police or to the Principal of the school, Mr. Simony, at 902-457-8900 ext 5601297 or at tsimony@hrsb.ca

Thank you for your support.
