Grade 12 students interested in being sponsored for the Loran Scholarship must submit a letter to guidance outlining the following: strong academic performance (minimum cumulative average of 85%), strong character, commitment to serving others, leadership, independent thinking, and a willingness to take meaningful risks.  Students must be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident. Deadline is today, October 3rd at 3:20 PM. HWHS is able to sponsor 3 students who will then be able to complete the online application.  Please see the Guidance Bulletin board and visit loranscholar.ca for more information.
The West Baseball Team is reminded of batting practice today at the Mainland Common Cage at 3:30. Anyone not able to attend is asked to see Mr. RUDOLPH in room C127 ASAP.
Bus Passes will be distributed today at lunch and after school in room A285.
Reminder to the girls trying out for the girls hockey team:  there is a tryout today at 5-6pm at Centennial arena.  Please make sure to bring your money to cover the ice time.
There will be a GSA meeting today at lunch in room C228 on today, Tuesday and Wednesday.
There will be a jack. org meeting on Wed., Oct. 5 at lunch in room C229.
Improv auditions will continue this week on Wednesday and Friday after school, auditioning students are encouraged to check the updated schedule by Drama Room door.

Congratulations to the Halifax West Baseball Team for capturing the Regional Championship this past weekend at Beazley Field. The boys defeated Sir John A 16-8 in the championship game -- a great team effort to remain undefeated heading into provincials.

Students wanting to go to the Dalhousie Powwow on Thursday October 6th please get your consent form into Ms. Graveline. Remember she can take 14. She will be in tomorrow so get the consent in to the library.

The girls volleyball had a strong weekend going 4-0 in pool play before falling to gillis in a tough fought match.  The team was led by strong play from Sara Adams and Lejla hadzimurtezic.

There will be a boys “A” soccer meeting tomorrow Tuesday Oct. 4th in Room C146 at 12:25.

The boys “A” soccer team next game will be played Tuesday at 4:00pm vs Lockview.
